The U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix Series returns to Copper Mountain this week with a major addition. Now known as the Visa U.S. Halfpipe Grand Prix, the event has expanded to include halfpipe competition in both skiing and snowboarding for the first time in the tour’s 15-year history.
Qualifying for skiers gets underway at Copper’s 22-foot Main Vein Superpipe on Wednesday, with the finals going down Friday at noon. Snowboarders — including the likes of U.S. Olympic Team members Gretchen Bleiler, Kelly Clark, Louie Vito and Greg Bretz — drop in for qualifying rounds Thursday, followed by finals competition Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The Paul Mitchell Progression Session follows competition at 7 p.m. Saturday. All events are free to spectators.
