MISSOULA, Mont.—A California company that revived horse racing at tracks in Missoula and Great Falls has gone out of business.

Montana Entertainment LLC has agreed to pay $20,000 of the $33,000 it owes the Montana Board of Horse Racing and CEO Eric Spector has surrendered his license to operate in the state.

Board chairman Al Carruthers and Spector signed an agreement Monday that also calls for Spector’s company to leave behind computer routers at six simulcast sites it ran across the state.

The Missoulian reports Montana Entertainment owes Cascade County $30,000 for debts accrued at the Great Falls track over the past two years and owes $10,000 to the Western Montana Fair in Missoula for work getting the track in shape for a two-day meet in August.

Montana Board of Horse Racing executive secretary Ryan Sherman says the board hopes to have legislation introduced in 2011 to give it the authority to run the simulcast network or to contract for the work to be done.
