FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Police in Fort Collins say a man wanted for escaping from community corrections is dead after being shot by police.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Police had gotten a tip that the unidentified man was at an apartment complex. Police spokeswoman Rita Davis said that when the officers made contact with the man, he made a threatening movement toward the officers and they fired at him.
Davis said he was shot multiple times and died at the hospital.
Police say the man was wanted for burglary and menacing, theft and eluding as well as escaping from community corrections.
The officers have been placed on paid leave as police investigate what happened.
