A man hit on a light-rail line on Tuesday afternoon near the Alameda station has been identified as 19-year-old Harry R. Exner of Red Wing, Minn., the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said today.
Exner was a pedestrian crossing the tracks at the time he was struck by the train, according to the coroner’s office.
The accident caused a shutdown of train service for a little more than two hours between the 10th & Osage and I-25/Broadway stations.
Regional Transportation District spokesman Scott Reed said the victim was in an area of the rail right of way that is posted as “restricted” and the man was trespassing on RTD property
Reed said the area is fenced. The train operator saw Exner on the tracks but could not stop in time, he said.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com.
