GREELEY — Just when Fido may have given up hope to someday walk freely in Greeley’s parks, he and all his four-legged pals may finally get a chance.
The city may put the dogs-in-parks issue back on the table for consideration — after two previous failed attempts, including one public vote to allow man’s best friend into the city’s coveted parks.
Based on a request by Greeley teacher Cindy Keesis, city officials are recommending a one-year to 18-month trial period to allow dogs in all parks, except those that are used for youth sporting events.
The proposal would have to pass City Council muster first, and it has yet to be scheduled for discussion.
Dogs have been banned from Greeley city parks for 33 years.
