Former University of Denver golfers Kimberly Kim and Stephanie Sherlock finished tied for 14th in the LPGA’s qualifying school, earning tour cards for the 2011 season.
Sherlock was tied for 27th heading into Sunday’s final round and recorded an even-par 72, her second- best score in the five-round event. The top 20 earned tour cards.
Kim started the day in a tie for 37th, but a final- round 2-under 70 propelled her up the leaderboard.
Sherlock and Kim finished the tournament with a score of 362, eight strokes behind winner Aree Song. Former Pioneer Katie Kempter shot a 78 and finished at 374, missing the cut by 12 strokes.
DelPiccolo, Louisville fall in NCAA final.
Louisville men’s soccer sophomore midfielder Paolo DelPiccolo (Wheat Ridge High School) attempted two shots, including a 30-yard free kick, in the NCAA championship game but was unable to help the Cardinals in a 1-0 loss to Akron on Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Tracey helps in Bentley win.
Bentley men’s basketball senior Brian Tracey of Bow Mar had a double-double, helping the Falcons to a 66-61 overtime win over Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn., on Sunday.
Tracey, a 6-foot-5 forward from Heritage High School, had 10 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out with 3:30 left in regulation. He also took three charges for Bentley, which has an eight-game winning streak.
