The Colorado Mountain Club’s Backcountry Film Festival kicked off in Fort Collins last week and continues with three more stops across the state this winter. The closest to home is 7 p.m. Thursday at The American Mountaineering Center in Golden (710 10th St.).
Selections by the Winter Wildlands Alliance for this year’s festival include Teton Gravity Research’s “Deeper,” which follows legendary snowboarder Jeremy Jones; “Desert River” from Sweetgrass Productions; “Whitebark Warrior” from TreeFight and SnazMedia; “Australis: An Antarctic Odyssey” by Chris Davenport; as well as “TELEvision” and the lighthearted “Cross Country Snowboarding.”
Tickets benefiting CMC’s Backcountry Snowsports Initiative are $10. Follow-up festival dates are Jan. 10 at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder (633 S. Broadway) and Jan. 26 at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (100 Puppy Smith St., Aspen).
