DENVER—Travis Hallam scored a career-high 18 points Tuesday night as Denver dealt Arkansas-Pine Bluff its 11th straight loss, beating the Golden Lions 73-55.

Hallam was 4 for 4 on 3-point attempts for the Pioneers, winners of consecutive games for the first time this season. Chris Udofia added 10 points.

Salvalance Townsend had 28 points for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-11). Leading scorer Allen Smith had six points and didn’t have his first field goal until 1:46 left in the first half.

The 11 straight losses matches the Golden Lions’ start of a year ago when they opened 0-11 but advanced to the NCAA tournament after winning their conference tournament.

Denver led 35-18 at the half, holding Pine Bluff to six field goals in 21 attempts.

The Pioneers began pulling away when Justin Coughlin and Chase Hallam had baskets to begin a 13-5 run that gave them a 21-8 lead. Travis Hallam had two 3-pointers in the final 3:27 to build the 17-point bulge at the break.

Denver led by as many as 33 points in the second half when Blake Foeman scored a layup with 9:46 remaining to make it 59-26.

The Pioneers shot 60 percent from the field, hitting 24 of 40 shots—including 9 of 19 from 3-point range. They begin Sun Belt Conference play Dec. 30 against Louisiana-Lafayette.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff has yet to play a home game this season. The Golden Lions’ home opener is Jan. 4 against Mississippi Valley State.
