Now that they’ve gone Tim Tebow, the Broncos can’t dare go back.

“He will be the starter on Sunday,” said Eric Studesville, the Broncos’ interim head coach.

That is not the full answer, though, because the complete question is not restricted to the season finale Sunday against the similarly playoff-eliminated San Diego Chargers at Invesco Field at Mile High.

The question is about the start of the 2011 season. Can the Broncos and their new head coach, whoever he is, think about starting anyone other than Tebow at quarterback next season?

“Right now that’s so far outside of what we’re focusing on now,” Studesville said following his press conference. “We’ve got a lot of things to worry about. There will be some changes after the season — I think all of that will sort itself out. Obviously, we think Tim has a very bright future here.”

  • Studesville also said running back Knowshon Moreno could have returned to play Sunday against Houston despite his battered ribs. “He was on the sidelines and he was ready to go the whole time,” Studesville said. “But (Correll Buckhalter) was kind of going a little bit and Lance (Ball) was playing well. Sometimes when those guys get rolling, you just kind of roll in the guys that are feeling it.”

  • Studesville could not say whether cornerback Champ Bailey, who left the game Sunday after aggravating his bruised heel in the third quarter Sunday, would play Sunday.

  • For their final week of the season, Broncos players again received both Monday and Tuesday off. Concerns they will start their vacation a week early?

    “This group of guys has incredible character and that does not concern me,” Studesville said.
