Sir Elton John and husband David Furnish are new parents.
But unlike the namesake of Elton’s song “Levon,” the boy wasn’t “born a pauper to a pawn” but instead to the uber-wealthy piano man. And, just like Levon in the song, the 7-pound, 15-ounce baby boy was born on Christmas Day.
Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John was born in California via a surrogate, whose identity is being protected by the new parents.
Zachary is 62-year-old John’s first child with the 48-year-old Furnish. The couple married in 2005.
In a joint statement, the new parents said that “Zachary is healthy and doing well” and they are “overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment.”
After almost a year together, Rihanna and Matt Kemp have called it quits.
“It happened over the last few weeks,” an insider close to the singer told UsMagazine. “She basically was just over it.”
Rihanna is currently vacationing with family in her native Barbados and could not be reached for comment.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kemp helped Rihanna move on from Chris Brown, who infamously assaulted her in February 2009.
But the “Only Girl” singer has been “so busy,” the insider says. “He just can’t keep up with her crazy travel schedule.”
“Matt’s sick of always following after her like a puppy dog all over the world. He wants something more normal,” the source adds.
Kelsey Grammer wants to speed up his divorce so that he can remarry.
Grammer, who split from “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Camille Donatacci over the summer, is reportedly trying to rush divorce proceedings so he and Kayte Walsh can tie the knot.
According to TMZ.com, the “Fraiser” star, 55, is seeking bifurcation, in which a judge would officially end the marriage even though terms of the divorce, such as financial agreements, haven’t been decided.
Even with bifurcation, Grammer and Donatacci’s divorce can’t be finalized before January 1, 2011 – exactly six months after the divorce petition was filed, in accordance with California law. But with just days left until the new year, Grammer could remarry very soon.
A friend of the reality star told TMZ that Donatacci, 47, “is not surprised but continues to be disappointed at Kelsey’s immature and disrespectful behavior.”
Grammer’s engagement to Walsh – who would be his fourth bride – became public Dec. 6. At the time, the actor’s rep told the Daily News that they “got engaged a while ago” and “are very happy.”
In August, Grammer confirmed he and Walsh were expecting, only to announce two months later that the 29-year-old had miscarried – an event that sources close to Donatacci suggested was karma.
Grammer and Donatacci, who wed in 1997, have two kids together.
Lindsay Lohan‘s got a new movie project — but not one she’ll be starring in.
Model-heiress Lydia Hearst Shaw will play a spoofed version of the in-rehab 24-year-old star in “Dogs in Pocketbooks,” screenwriter Charles Casillo told New York Post’s Page Six.
Shaw, 26, “will play a bratty movie goddess in and out of rehab, in trouble with the law, and hounded by greedy agents, predatory paparazzi, off-the-wall stalkers and crazed media — a role obviously based on Lindsay Lohan,” Casillo explained.
Why did filmmakers pick socialite Shaw, who hasn’t acted much?
Lydia Hearst Shaw, the daughter of famous kidnap victim Patty Hearst, is “perfect,” the screenwriter says.
“I spent a lot of time casting for the right actress for this screwball comedy, but Lydia is perfect. She’s one of the few supermodels who can actually act. She’s smart, well-read, charming and very beautiful,” Casillo said.
He says the movie isn’t meant to demean Lindsay. “It’s the kind of thing she has spoofed about herself in the past,” he says. It’s more of a satire about the crazy people around her and the situations they generate. It satirizes the obsession with modern celebrity.”
