SAN FRANCISCO — Kwame Morgan’s 3-pointer with 0.8 of a second remaining and career-high 29 points Saturday helped Hampton beat Colorado State 77-75 in the Hilltop Challenge.

Darrion Pellum added 17 points for the Pirates (11-3). Charles Funches and Christopher Tolson each contributed 10 points.

Adam Nigon and Andy Ogide scored 16 points apiece to lead the Rams (10-4), who had their six-game winning streak snapped. Dorian Green finished with 15 for CSU.

Travis Franklin hit 1-of-2 free throws with 14 seconds left to give the Rams a 75-74 lead, setting the stage for Morgan’s big basket. Saturday marked the second time in four games Morgan hit a game-winning 3 in the final second. The junior guard lifted Hampton to a 62-59 victory over Liberty on Dec. 22.

Hampton led by 17 points in the first half before Colorado State trimmed the Pirates’ lead to 39-31 at halftime.
