Could Dan Hawkins be close to returning to the college football head coaching ranks?
Kirk Bohls, columnist for the Austin American- Statesman, tweeted Wednesday that former Minnesota coach Tim Brewster pulled his name out of the running for the Texas State job.
In the vacuum left behind, the Bobcats added former Colorado coach Hawkins and former Louisville chief Steve Kragthorpe to its list of candidates.
The way Bohls put it, Texas State is “looking hard” at Hawkins.
CU adds Kennedy, Blacken.
Colorado football coach Jon Embree officially named Bobby Kennedy wide receivers coach and Malcolm Blacken as CU’s speed and strength and conditioning coach.
Kennedy, 44, spent the past seven years as receivers coach at Texas. The Boulder native was named the Longhorns’ assistant recruiting coordinator after his first year on the staff. Kennedy’s other coaching stops include two years coaching receivers at Washington, as well as stops at Arizona (2001), Wake Forest (1995-2000) and Wyoming (1993-94).
Blacken comes to Colorado from the Washington Redskins. He has been in the NFL for the past 15 years.
