The median sale price for single-family homes in metro Denver rose 7.3 percent last year to $235,000.
Condo sale prices rose marginally, from $135,000 in 2009 to $136,000 last year, according to multiple listing statistics compiled by real estate analyst Gary Bauer.
The 2010 price rise in single-family homes occurred even as the number of sales declined from 2009.
Single-family home sales totaled 30,777, down 7 percent from the prior year. Condo sales also declined, with 8,041 properties sold, a drop of 10.2 percent.
For the month of December 2010, homes listed for sale totaled 18,867, compared with 20,392 in November and 16,456 in December 2009.
Sales in the early part of 2010 were boosted by federal tax credits, although activity dropped after the credits expired in April.
Economists at the University of Colorado said combined sales of new and previously owned homes dropped about 10 percent in 2010, marking the fifth straight year of declines. The Denver Post
