had a full house at patrons in stitches last night for his first of three weekend shows at the downtown venue. Looking comfortable in a worn t-shirt and jeans, Riggle told stories of his time as a “Daily Show” correspondent at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and hilarious interactions with local “hippy-dippies.” Riggle’s set was equally self-praising and self-deprecating, often poking fun at his large size, his distaste for the elderly and offering spot-on impressions of New England and New York accents. Though a little heavy on the toilet humor at times (including an in-depth comparison of stadium bathrooms to war zones, the night’s highlight), Riggle walked the line between accessible and intellectual comedy, finding the absurdity in everyday scenarios from a seeker-of-justice perspective.
Catch Riggle tonight and tomorrow at Comedy Works in Larimer Square.
