“Nordic Ski Colorado” is the state’s newest guide to cross country skiing, a free, 84-page publication conceived as an invitation to try the sport. Published by avid nordic skiers Tim Carter and Tina Wilson, the guide offers advice to newbies ranging from equipment and technique basics to tips for getting kids involved, nordic clubs to join, places to ski and learn, and even a few tips on snowshoeing. More experienced skiers can read about biathlon racing; waxing, training and high-performance nutrition; and nearby nordic travel destinations. The annual guide also includes a chart listing trail information and services offered by nordic centers in Grand, Summit, Gunnison and Routt counties, along with the Colorado race schedule for this winter.
