At least 69 people are expected to be laid off at Quiznos’ corporate headquarters in downtown Denver by mid-March, the company said last week.
A filing Wednesday by Quiznos with the state Department of Labor and Employment wasn’t specific about which jobs would be affected, and a Quiznos spokeswoman did not return a message left at her office Monday.
The reason for the layoffs, according to the note filed by Quiznos general counsel Jeffrey Stahlhut, were “plans to restructure certain operations” in the company’s offices at 1001 17th St.
State records show the company has between 100 and 250 employees at its headquarters, though the precise number was not disclosed.
The filing indicates additional layoffs could be coming, calling the latest round “the first employment separations.”
The announcement comes three months after the sandwich chain of nearly 4,000 stores worldwide hired chief executive Greg MacDonald, former president of Quiznos’ global operations, and other key executives.
Longtime CEO and founder Rick Schaden had stepped aside in October to focus on new philanthropic and business projects, though he retained chairmanship of the Quiznos board.
The filing is under the state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires companies planning large layoffs to notify the state so that it can offer employee-assistance programs to those furloughed.
