Drivers in downtown Denver and the Capitol Hill area will face delays and detours this morning because of the gubernatorial inauguration ceremony and a planned cannon salute.
Traffic plans will limit thru-lanes on Lincoln and Grant streets adjacent to the Colorado State Capitol Building and traffic will come to precautionary stop during the Colorado National Guard’s cannon salute.
Plans include:
Traffic being restricted to the west two lanes of Lincoln Street between Colfax Avenue and 14th Avenue from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Traffic being restricted to the east lane of Grant Street between Colfax Avenue and 14th Avenue from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
At about 10:50 a.m. the Denver Police Department will halt traffic near the capitol on Lincoln and Grant streets during the cannon salute as a safety measure.
In keeping with tradition, 19 cannon rounds will be fired, according to a media release from the City of Denver.
