A Fort Lupton woman whose 1-year-old son drowned in the bathtub has been arrested after telling police that she was on Facebook in another room at the time, the Greeley Tribune reported.
Shannon Johnson’s son, Joseph, was 13 months old on Sept. 20 when he died after his mother found him in the bathtub, where she’d left him unwatched for a few minutes, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Tribune on Wednesday.
The newspaper said Johnson told authorities that she started leaving him in the bathtub alone because “he really wanted to be left alone; he was a very independent baby.” She also said she didn’t want her son to be known as a “mama’s boy.”
Johnson, 34, was being held on $100,000 bail after having been booked into the Weld County Jail on Tuesday, the Tribune reported.
