Woodson Greer, a linebacker at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif., plans to sign with the University of Colorado on national signing day Feb. 2.
Greer told the Cali High School Sports website that CU’s coaching staff and support system set the Buffaloes apart from his other suitors.
“Eighty-five percent of them went to and played for Colorado, and a lot of them played in the NFL, so they know how the process goes and can relate to me personally,” said the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Greer.
CU head coach Jon Embree, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, defensive line coach Kanavis McGhee and linebackers coach Brian Cabral played for the Buffs and in the NFL. Former CU stars Deon Figures and Jashon Sykes, a member of the Buffs’ operations staff, are Serra High School alumni.
Greer is a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com. He also considered Arizona State, Michigan and San Diego State.
