
Like any soon-to-be father, Primo Paragas was panicked when his wife went into labor Sunday morning.
But that feeling quickly turned to dread when he realized that his car – which he had left running only a 100 yards away from his apartment – had been stolen.
The family’s ordeal started about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when Serena Paragas realized that her water had broken. While she got ready, Primo Paragas raced around their Colorado Springs apartment grabbing what they needed.
He packed his digital camera, a laptop and three external hard drives – to ensure he could back up photos of the birth. Also on the laptop were the couple’s wedding and honeymoon pictures.
He packed overnight bags for his wife and himself and bags for the baby filled with diapers, blankets and clothes they had specifically picked out for their son’s first days.
He put it all in the car. In the trunk was the baby’s car seat.
