BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.—The new boss of the Air Force Space Command has paid a visit to Buckley Air Force Base in the Denver suburb of Aurora.

Gen. William Shelton spoke with Air Force members during his stop on Tuesday.

Shelton replaced Gen. C. Robert Kehler (KAY-luhr) earlier this month. Kehler is taking over the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.

The Space Command’s headquarters are at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. It oversees military and civilian GPS programs, other military satellites, launches of military satellites and Air Force cyber operations.

The 460th Space Wing, part of the Space Command, is at Buckley. The wing’s duties include missile warning, technical intelligence and satellite command.
