DENVER—A Fort Collins man accused of swindling investors out of $3.4 million has been sentenced to nine years in prison.

The Coloradoan reports that Jeremy Hart Friday received the maximum sentence allowed under a plea deal. Hart pleaded guilty in November to one count of felony theft and one count of felony securities fraud.

Hart and Richard Novaria were accused of running a Ponzi scheme between July 2006 and May 2008 with the Windsor-based Dreamweaver Foundation.

Investors’ money was allegedly used to make interest payments to other investors.

An arraignment and motions hearing in Novaria’s case is scheduled Feb. 10.
