A Colorado State Patrol trooper arrested a road rage suspect tonight after the man drove recklessly at high speeds on several highways until he reached a dead end, jumped out of his SUV and ran.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is being held for investigation of vehicular eluding at the Adams County jail, said Heather Cobler, CSP spokeswoman.
A motorist on westbound Interstate 270 near Vasquez Boulevard called Aurora police at 8:23 p.m. to report a road rage incident, Cobler said.
Shortly after the motorist called police, he happened to spot a trooper and motioned towards the suspect’s Ford Explorer.
The trooper pulled the man over for erratic and aggressive driving, but immediately after stopping the suspect took off, driving at high speed.
“He was passing people on the shoulder and weaving in and out of traffic,” Cobler said.
The suspect drove onto northbound Interstate-25 until he reached 120th Avenue. He then drove east to Washington Street and finally stopped at a dead end road and began running, she said.
He was arrested at 8:34 p.m. in a Burger King parking lot, 11 minutes after the original call.
