WASHINGTON — Two White House officials say Carol Browner is stepping down as President Barack Obama’s chief adviser on energy and climate matters. Her resignation is expected to happen in the coming weeks.
Browner, a former Environmental Protection Agency administrator, will be leaving the White House just as Republicans in Congress prepare to take on the Obama administration over global warming and the handling of the Gulf oil spill.
