PHILADELPHIA — The natural-gas industry on Tuesday stepped up a campaign to discredit the anti-drilling film “Gasland” after the documentary, which was inspired by Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale development, was nominated for an Academy Award.

An industry trade association denounced the “gross and deliberate misrepresentations” of “Gasland,” which was named Tuesday by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of five nominees for 2010’s best feature documentary.
