Scientists have confirmed that a skull found in December in Teller County was that of a woman who was killed in Fremont County.
A North Carolina laboratory determined that a skull found by a hunter was that of 44-year-old Rebecca Magallanes, said Teller County Coroner Al Born.
John Paul Williams, 58, has been charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in the Nov. 9 shooting death of Magallanes, who was his common- law wife. Williams is alleged to have killed Magallanes, dismembered her body and distributed the remains in Teller and Custer counties.
