GREELEY — Greeley’s odor hotline has seen a tad more activity in the last two months after practically collecting dust.

While only 12 calls came into the hotline last year, eight of them came in December, said Karen Scopel, the natural resources manager for the city, who oversees code enforcement. Eight calls have already come in January.

The 15-year-old odor hotline, however, isn’t even close to ringing off the hook as it did in the beginning, when 650 calls per year bellowed complaints of the city’s notorious odor.

Since then, the city’s feedlots have shut down.

Odor sources are in violation if the city receives three calls within six hours, or reach a 7:1 threshold of odor particles to clean air, Scopel said.
