METRO NORTH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Named Michelle Martinez, owner of The Bagel Bakery and Cupcake Shoppe and Anythink Cafe caterer in Thornton, as the Small Business Person of the Year.

DENVER HEALTH: Hired Dr. Donald Penning as director of anesthesiology. Penning comes to Denver Health from the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, where he was chief of obstetric anesthesia at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: Pediatric cardiologist Dr. Lisa Howley recently joined the hospital’s Heart Institute and will work with the new advanced maternal fetal neonatal medicine program. Robin Doerr was named executive director of marketing and communications.

COLORADO WYOMING PETROLEUM MARKETERS ASSOCIATION: Elected Bill Gallagher of Offen Petroleum, Denver, as the new president. CWPMA also elected Gary Elwood, Fuel Depot, Powell Wyo., 1st vice president; Al Butler, Western Petroleum, Glenwood Springs, 2nd vice president; Eric Balenseifen, Rex Oil, Denver, treasurer; and Steve Perkins, Perkins Oil, Rawlins, Wyo., past president.

REGIS UNIVERSITY: Named Kurt Bartley director of gift planning.

FAEGRE & BENSON: Promoted Marc. C Levy, Mary V. (Mindy) Sooter and Daniel D. Williams to partner.

IPAC-CO2 RESEARCH INC.: George William Sherk has joined as chief operating officer in Regina, Canada. Sherk was formerly managing director of the Colorado Energy Research Institute at the Colorado School of Mines.

SQUARETWO FINANCIAL: Named Mark D. Erickson as a senior vice president.
