Just in time for this year’s sesquicentennial events across the country, this glossy hardback promises everything from Fort Sumter to Appomattox, with detailed narratives about the battles, listings of the major sites and features on the military and civic leaders. Just as helpful are the directions to some of the more obscure locations and fairly in-depth descriptions of places to stay and eat nearby, with an idea of price ranges and links to the websites.
