The children’s advocacy group All Kids Covered has received a $60,000 grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, plus access to technical assistance from Georgetown University Health Policy Institute, to continue its work promoting health care coverage in Colorado.

The announcement marks the second anniversary of the reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which enables kids to get preventive and primary care statewide.

All Kids Covered works with state and local agencies to help families enroll and navigate the bureaucracy involved with accessing care through CHIP and Medicaid.

Its coalition of about 40 organizations also performs outreach and addresses policy issues and best practices.

“All have the shared goal that kids and families can access health coverage,” said Cody Belzley, vice president of the Colorado Children’s Campaign, one of four organizations that lead the coalition. “It’s more cost-effective to provide preventive and primary care than wait for kids to get sick. In this economic environment, going without insurance can be a real risk.”
