SALT LAKE CITY—Zach Bohannon scored a career-high 12 points and Air Force pulled away from Utah early then held on for a 54-49 victory Saturday night.
Bohannon also had eight rebounds and five assists, both career bests, for the Falcons (13-9, 4-5 Mountain West), who have won consecutive conference road games after losing their previous 20.
Shawn Glover scored a career-high 15 points to lead the Utes (10-13, 3-6), who have lost three in a row and were held under 50 points for the first time this season.
With Utah trailing by seven late, Will Clyburn scored five straight points to make it 48-46 with 1:22 to play, but Air Force answered with its own 5-0 run to secure its first win in Salt Lake City since 2006.
The Falcons broke the game’s only tie with a 14-2 run for a 16-4 advantage and led the rest of the game. The Utes stayed within single digits most of the rest of the way but couldn’t get closer than two, which they did twice.
Derek Brooks added nine points for Air Force, which outrebounded Utah 38-31 and outscored the Utes 24-14 in the paint.
Utah center David Foster had five blocks to give him 191 for his career, 14 shy of tying Luke Nevill’s school record. Clyburn finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.
Both teams shot less than 40 percent.
