Address:

What’s happening:
The General Services Administration is undertaking a modernization project at the Chavez building that will transform the outdated federal facility into a high-performing green building. Located in the Golden Triangle, the 180,000-square-foot building is home to five federal agencies that employ about 190 people.
The details:
The modernized building will produce 5 percent of its energy through renewable-energy technologies and cut its energy use by 30 percent. The highlight of the project will be a new building exterior composed of an aluminum and glass curtain wall system that will reduce the building’s energy consumption, protect against the effects of a terrorist blast and enhance the natural light and views.
