BOULDER — The Colorado women’s basketball team took control early with a 24-2 run en route to a dominating victory Sunday over Nebraska, 70-45 at the Coors Events Center.

Brittany Spears paced the Buffs (12-10, 3-6 Big 12) with 26 points. The senior reached double figures in scoring for the 100th time.

“She scored a lot of different ways, and she helped move the ball,” coach Linda Lappe said.

Said Spears, “I just wanted to win — to just come out aggressive and win.”

CU held Nebraska (12-10, 2-6) to 28.8 percent shooting.

“They were able to execute when they wanted to, and we didn’t guard very well,” Huskers coach Connie Yori said.

Chucky Jeffery led the Buffs with 10 rebounds to help give CU a 45-27 advantage on the boards.
