A Fort Collins man is facing charges of sex assault and contributing to the delinguency of a minor, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department said this afternoon.

Investigators would not release any information about the circumstances that led to the arrest of John Herman Trujillo, 44, the former owner of the Surfside 7, a popular pizza and music venue in Old Town Fort Collins, including whether the charge is related to the club.

The current owner said she bought the business last year and did not know Trujillo personally.

He faces two counts of a felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor one count of felony criminal attempt to commit contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a misdemeanor count of sexual assault with a 10-year age difference.

The latter charge indicates a alleged victim who is 15 or 16 years old under Colorado law.

According to court records, the offense allegedly happened in July 2007. Trujillo is being held in the Larimer County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond. His first court appearance is Friday, which also is his birthday.
