GREELEY — A 22-year-old Evans man was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison for his role in a murder-for- hire plot hatched with a Weld County Jail inmate.
Jesse Rodriguez also was sentenced to five years of parole for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder after deliberation, Weld County District Attorney spokeswoman Jennifer Finch said.
Police said Rodriguez, already in jail at the time, was contacted in June 2010 by fellow gang member Christian Hanson, in jail on felony charges including sexual assault.
Hanson asked Rodriguez to arrange for the sexual-assault victim in his case to be killed. Rodriguez was arrested after he met with an undercover officer to arrange the murder.
Rodriguez pleaded guilty in December, a month after Hanson was convicted on several felonies stemming from the plot. Hanson was sentenced to 176 years in prison.
