Highlights from the Colorado Legislature on Monday:
— The Senate gave final approval to midyear spending adjustments trimming about $217 million from this year’s budgets. The spending bills now head to the House.
— The House gave preliminary approval to a new 30-minute-a-day physical activity requirement for schoolchildren (House Bill 1069).
— The House gave preliminary approval to a measure adding strip clubs to the list of businesses where patrons can’t use state assistance cards similar to ATM cards (House Bill 1058).
— An Arizona-style immigration crackdown (House Bill 1107) was rejected by a House committee after the sponsor, Republican Rep. Randy Baumgardner, said it could cost taxpayers if it became law and opponents sued.
— The Senate voted to renew an income tax checkoff donation for the 9Health Fair. The measure now heads to the House.
— The Senate confirmed another Cabinet appointment, Sue Birch for the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing
