An education forum featuring Diane Ravitch lost a list of sponsors last week when they realized the event was planned as a political fundraiser. Now the event will be held at different location, will be free to the public and is no longer a fundraiser for a 527 political organization.
Ravitch, author of “The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice are Undermining Education” will speak at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda in Denver.
The time and date of the event remain the same, 6:30-9 p.m. on Feb. 17.
The discussion and question and answer session will start at 7:30 p.m. after a book signing.
The church is a larger venue than the original room at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus. That room was going to be free for use for the event when the sponsors included the University of Colorado-Denver.
Last week UCD and others including Metropolitan State College of Denver requested their names be removed from the sponsor list after discovering the event was a fundraiser for a new 527 political group, Friends of Education.
