DENVER—State health officials say a second flu shot is now due for some children if this is the first season they’ve had the vaccination.
The health department issued a reminder this week that children between 6 months and 8 years old who are in that category should get two doses at least four weeks apart.
Joni Reynolds, director of the state immunization program, says children who need the second shot but don’t get it are vulnerable to contracting the flu and suffering from flu complications.
Health officials said Wednesday that 425 people have been hospitalized for flu in Colorado this season, and seven people have died, including two children.
