An 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital this morning after being struck by a Jeep on U.S. Highway 34.
Austin Winchester, 18, was driving with an unidentified male passenger, who is also 18, when their 1999 Jeep got stuck in the snow on Highway 34 near Loveland, according to Nate Reid, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
The passenger was attempting to push the car out of the snow when Winchester hit and injured him with the Jeep.
The passenger was taken to McKee Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Alcohol may have played a role in the accident, Reid said.
Winchester’s blood-alcohol level was tested, and he is currently being held at the Colorado State Patrol office in Fort Collins. No charges have been filed.
