HAYDEN, Colo.—Authorities say a small passenger jet veered off a runway at an airport serving Colorado’s Steamboat Springs ski resort, but no one was hurt.
The Steamboat Springs Pilot & Today reports the twin-jet Gulfstream IV was taking off from Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden late Friday when one engine lost power and the force of the other engine sent the plane off-course.
Airport Assistant Manager Dean Smith says a pilot, co-pilot and flight attendant were aboard. He says the plane had dropped off some passengers and was headed for California.
It stopped in deep mud, too close to the runway for safe operation, so the airport was closed until it could be moved. Flights resumed at mid-day Saturday during the President’s Day weekend, a busy time for ski areas.
