A Colorado Springs infant was taken off life support and died Saturday. The boy’s babysitter is facing a murder charge, police said in a statement.
On Feb. 10, Sand Creek Division officers responded to a report of a 2-month-old child who was not conscious and not breathing. The child was taken to Memorial Hospital and admitted to the pediatric intensive-care unit.
An investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department led to the Feb. 11 arrest of the child’s babysitter, 23-year-old George Peters, on suspicion of felony child abuse.
With the death of the infant, Peters will face a first-degree murder charge. An autopsy is being conducted by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, and results are expected this week.
