Northern Colorado’s Devon Beitzel, a senior guard from Centaurus High School, and Northern Arizona’s Cameron Jones were named Big Sky Conference co-men’s basketball players of the week.
Beitzel’s 28 points Saturday night powered UNC’s 82-80 victory at New Mexico State. Beitzel played all 40 minutes of the game.
Saturday’s performance lifted his season scoring average to 20.2 points, best in the Big Sky.

CU-Colorado Springs forward Brent Jones and Adams State forward Seth Heinbaugh were named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s offensive and defensive men’s basketball players of the week, respectively.
Jones, a 6-foot-6 senior from West Linn, Ore., averaged 24 points for the Mountain Lions when they beat Chadron State and lost to Nebraska-Kearney. He had 27 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals Friday against Chadron State and 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots Saturday against Nebraska-Kearney.
Heinbaugh, a 6-5 forward from Prescott Valley, Ariz., helped the Grizzlies beat Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines by grabbing a total of 18 rebounds (16 on the defensive end) and also contributing four steals.
• Adams State’s Kendra Coveal was named the women’s RMAC offensive player of the week. Jenna Santistevan of Fort Lewis received the defensive award.
