Monday’s Presidents Day ski traffic was more a dusting than the expected eastbound avalanche, highway officials said.

The three-day weekend typically means long delays on Interstate 70. Each of the past two years has produced eastbound traffic counts of more than 25,000 vehicles through the Eisenhower Tunnel on the holiday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Traffic counts for Monday were not yet available, but there was no need for periodic stops at the tunnel, said CDOT spokesman Ted Hill.
