COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Authorities say a 2-month-old Colorado Springs boy has died and a 23-year-old man is in jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

The infant was hospitalized on Feb. 10 after authorities received a call saying he had stopped breathing. He died nine days later after he was removed from child support. Authorities haven’t released the cause of death or revealed the nature of any injuries.

Twenty-three-year-old George Peters was first arrested on suspicion of child abuse soon after the infant was hospitalized, and his bail was set at $250,000. The charge was changed to first-degree murder when the boy died.

Peters hasn’t entered a plea. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.

Authorities haven’t disclosed the relationship between Peters and the child.
