Colorado’s infatuation with the artistic endeavors of Christo and Jeanne- Claude continues this weekend, when the Denver Art Museum presents a three-day film series devoted to their large-scale international art projects.

Christo is seeking approval for “Over the River,” a plan he conceived with his late wife to suspend 5.9 miles of translucent fabric over eight sections of the Arkansas River between Salida and Cañon City. The privately funded, two-week artwork is expected to cost $50 million.

The art museum will screen “Nomad of Art,” a 30-minute documentary on Christo and Jeanne-Claude, six times during today’s 6-10 p.m. installment of “Untitled.” The series of after-hours events is an informal, alternative way to enjoy the institution’s offerings; it’s free with regular admission.

The film series continues Saturday and Sunday, but those free screenings are open to museum members only. Saturday’s offerings are full.

But space remains for Sunday’s documentaries: 12:30 p.m., “Running Fence”; 2 p.m., “Christo in Paris (Pont Neuf)”; and 3:30 p.m., “Umbrellas.” Advanced registration is required; call 720-913-0130.
