Getting your player ready...

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Spring training has a certain rhythm to it, a certain pace, a certain feel.

What’s that? Oh, all right, it’s boring. At least it can be.

But not for Rockies reliever Matt Daley. Whenever it seems like he’s done one too many drills, he heads for his mail slot, where, for the first time, he’s getting fan mail.

Why? Because, for the first time in his career, he has his own Topps baseball card.

“I was pretty pumped when I got it,” Daley said. “It had been my dream since I was 2 years old to have my own Topps card. I still have them from when I collected them.”

He has received several of the cards from autograph-seeking fans.

“I get pretty pumped signing them,” Daley said. “I know some guys get upset to have to sign so many, but for me it’s pretty nice.”

This being the 21st century, Daley’s card has shown up on eBay. The going rate to get your own Daley card? 99 cents. OK, so it’s not Tulo territory, but Daley isn’t complaining.

“That’s not too bad,” he said. “I was expecting maybe a nickel.”
