The attorney for a former Children’s Hospital doctor charged in a large prescription-fraud case hinted Friday that he is working on a plea agreement.

The comment came during a hearing in the federal case against Louis Hampers. Hampers’ attorney, Richard Tegtmeier, asked to delay the case until April, when, Tegtmeier said, he believed he will have reached a “disposition” with prosecutors.

Hampers is charged with 655 counts of prescription fraud stemming from accusations that he orchestrated a scheme to obtain generic Ambien, Vicodin and Valium.
