LOS ANGELES — Right when the Avalanche was about to get back into a hockey game, it took itself right back out today.
In losing for the 12th time in the last 13 games, the Avs cut a four-goal deficit in half and still had 6 minutes to go in the game to come all the way back.
But three minor penalties right after took care of any hopes as the Los Angeles Kings held on for a 4-3 victory over the Avs at a sold out Staples Center.
Just a few seconds after the Avs’ David Jones had scored the second of his two goals within a minute to make it a 4-2 game, Colorado’s Jay McClement, Paul Stasnty and Erik Johnson all took minor penalties to keep the Avs on their heels killing penalties most of the way from there.
The Avs will play at Anaheim Sunday night.
