OMAHA, Neb.—Jason Zucker scored two goals as sixth-ranked Denver beat No. 12 Nebraska-Omaha 4-2 Saturday to overtake the Mavericks for second place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Denver (20-9-5, 16-7-3) had fallen to third place behind the Mavericks after Nebraska-Omaha’s 5-2 win on Friday.

Zucker was one of four Pioneers with multiple points Saturday. Drew Shore had a goal and an assist and Matt Donovan and Anthony Maiani added two assists each.

Nebraska-Omaha (20-12-2, 16-8-2) scored less than a minute after Denver to tie the game 1-1, and Nebraska-Omaha scored less than two minutes after the Pioneers late in the first period to tie it 2-2. Denver then scored the next three goals.

Michael Young and Brent Gwidt had goals for Nebraska-Omaha, which got 30 saves from goalies John Faulkner and Fredrik Bergman.

Denver’s Sam Brittain had 27 saves.
