A man trying to stop a U-Haul truck was crushed by the vehicle Saturday morning after he slipped and fell, police say.

The victim’s name had not been released pending notification of family members, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.

The accident happened at 10:45 a.m. at a storage rental facility at 58th Avenue and Leetsdale Drive, he said.

The man had stopped his truck and had gone inside the rental office when he looked outside and noticed that the U-Haul was rolling.

He ran outside, got in front of the truck, which was more than 20 feet long, and tried to push it to a stop, but he slipped and was killed, Jackson said.
